So the big reason I'm at AAU instead of MIT or UAT is, to put it simply, I can't draw. At least not naturally, instinctively. And even I have to admit that animation and game design is a hugely art-driven process. So rather than go to a tech school where I'd fit in and be comfortable, I decided to get the hard stuff out of the way and strengthen my biggest weakness. This first year has really challenged that weakness with classes like Analysis of Form, Figure Drawing and Figure Modeling. So while it's been slightly uncomfortable, I do believe I've improved in my ability to accurately capture form. I've finally gotten some of my work onto the Portfolio section, so you can see my sketches (no shading) from Figure Drawing here:
Some I think are awesome, some make me cringe, but I threw them all in there for an accurate snapshot of my skill as of now. Here's hoping I'll progress even more :) Labels: art, sketches, Website
